MEDIA BUYER

Description

Summary:

Negotiate, purchase and monitor advertising space and airtime on behalf of clients. The objective is to reach the highest number of people in the target audience at the lowest possible costs or value for our clients while operating within company and industry standards of practice.  Complete all market buys from beginning to end achieving the best outcomes for our clients, developing and maintaining professional relationships with media vendors, and providing our internal customers and service providers with what is needed on a timely basis. Provide guidance and coaching less senior Buyers and Media Assistants. 

Responsibilities:

  • Estimate, negotiate, and purchase all media including spot TV, radio, print, outdoor, and digital taking into consideration market conditions, historical pricing, and other such factors          
  • Coordinate with Traffic to ensure that all confirmed buys are uploaded in a timely manner
  • Work through makegoods on timely basis
  • Adhere to posting and other such requirements according to department standards
  • Provide assistance to Media Billing Client Business Manager to reconcile invoice, solve missing invoice issues and similar tasks
  • Provide direction to Media Assistants and assist with development toward the Junior Buyer position

Experience:

  • 3 - 7 years’ experience in a media planning/buying role (for example, Media Assistant, Junior Buyer, Buyer) in a retail marketing firm

Required Skills: 

  • Experience evaluating and purchasing local broadcast schedules
  • Excellent negotiating skills and strong organization skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to analyze, interpret and apply research data
  • Self-motivated and self-directed
  • Good interpersonal skills to develop and maintain relationships with vendors and teammates
  • Experience working with media buying and research software such as Nielsen, Scarborough, Prime Lingo, AdViews, SQAD, and SRDS
  • Intermediate-level proficiency in Microsoft Office in Excel and PowerPoint

Preferred Skills:

  • Media buying experience in the automotive industry
  • Or, media buying experience in a franchisee-type industry

CLIENT BUSINESS MANAGER

Description

We have an excellent opportunity for a mid-level individual to join our team in the position of Client Business Manager. Working with our Account Services team, this person will work closely with the internal departments, vendors, and our clients to manage the money.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly client spending reports/recaps as required by client
  • Process monthly billing to client
  • Prepare monthly ACB billing file for Local Marketing Association production activity
  • Monitor client invoice approval
  • Manage Account Receivable issues
  • Issue Purchase Orders on all non-Broadcast activity
  • Monitor Estimate vs. Actual activity by job
  • Provide financial approval on the initiation of all jobs
  • Schedule and review client billing
  • Provide weekly status reports to Account team for Estimate reviews
  • Adjust job information to ensure accurate billing
  • Assist with audits as needed
  • Initiate new clients as needed

 

Education: Degree in related field or 5+ years’ experience in lieu of degree

 

Experience: A minimum of 5 years' relevant experience

 

Required Skills: 

  • Highly proficient research skills and demonstrated analytical ability
  • Detail-oriented with excellent time management and follow-up skills
  • Possesses strong initiative and is proactive in working with others
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Ability to remain calm and pleasant under stressful situations
  • Not afraid to ask questions
  • Superior math and problem solving skills
  • Working knowledge of MS Office products, primarily Excel including Pivot Tables
  • Experience with Media Ocean, Brand Vault, and/or Service Now a plus; SAP knowledge a plus, but not required
  • Account Service knowledge a plus but not required
